Welcome to Peak Performance Physio

Meet the director….

Diane Slater

Physio CSP Profile2 Edited

I am a chartered physiotherapist with 10 years experience in assessing, treating and preventing musculoskeletal injuries.  I have gained this experience in private practise, military, non-profit and elite sport settings. I have had the privilege to work with great athletes and staff at GB Judo, GB Handball, Newcastle Vipers IHC and Manchester Phoenix IHC. I have also worked with many other international athletes in sports ranging from Taekwondo through to Fencing.

My approach is one that encompasses the whole person (psycho-physiological processes) and their goals. I don’t just focusing on pathological changes or symptoms but explore all possible causes and contributing factors.

I apply my clinical reasoning and problem solving skills to create and deliver integrated recovery plans. I utilise manual therapy, soft tissue skills, acupuncture, education and exercise prescription to facilitate recovery and improve performance.

Thats the formal bit out of the way so here’s a bit more about me……..

My passion for wellbeing and good health flows into my life outside of physio. I enjoy watching and participating in all sports. I love open water swimming, cycling, rollerblading,  skiing and generally just being outdoors. I thrive on challenges and recently completed a charity trek to Everest Base Camp as my first experience of mountaineering (www.facebook.com/DianesCharityTrek).

Maintaining a great work-life balance is so important to me. As a very social person I treasure quality time with family and friends. I am always looking for fun and new things to do. I believe laughter is great for the soul!

I have been lucky to have travelled to many countries for business and for pleasure. Its amazing to experience different cultures and meet such interesting people. Traveling has certainly enriched my life.

I am careful to prioritise some “Me Time”.The benefits of regular mindfulness practise, expressive writing, good nutrition and lots of sleep are so important to my great quality of life. Oooo and I do like a good Whisky!

I really do strive to practise what I preach and you can check out how well I’m doing on my Twitter page @DS_HealthierMe
